1 Kings 5-6
Today I want to post a question. Why is it that the leader gets all the credit for a building project when the only work he actually does is give the order to start? Solomon conscripted 30,000 labourers to build the temple. They did all the work, he gets all the credit. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I can't help but add Psalm 127:1 here; "Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain." When it comes to giving credit where credit is due, it all really should go back to the Lord, don't you think?

I can speak from experience that this is true! When my husband oversees a house being built and then it is finished, observers may say, "you built a beautiful house!", even tho he was not the only one that worked on it but one of so so many who worked with him, for him, or manufactured materials etc. The other side of it is, that if one of the other workers has a problem or does a bad job, draws a weird plan, or the material fails, etc... that reflects on him too. Sometimes the one who gets the undeserved credit is the one on whom unfair negative judgements fall as well. Part of being the overseer of anything I guess?
ReplyDeleteThe psalm says it well. God is the one who deserves the credit for any talent or skill a person has and uses well. And unless the Lord is in the project, its all wood, hay and stubble anyway!
