1Sam.30

Today's reading was so rich! I want to share something from John Courson's commentary on 1Sam.30. I'll try to paraphrase the highlights. When our kids have been carried off by the enemy there four things we should do following David's example. #1 Encourage yourself in the Lord. #2 Inquire of the Lord. #3 Do what He says, don't be passive, take that step of faith. #4 Be generous with all the Lord provides. So many of us have kids that have been carried off and ripped off, I thought this was awesome insight for today.

  1. Wow that's a great insight! Thanks. My favorite part of this chapter is how David divided the rewards with those who fought and those who stayed behind to guard their stuff. How wonderful of God to inspire that and remind the prideful who "go out" to honor those behind the scenes who are just as valuable! I think of prayer warriors, the moms with little ones feeling stuck at home, the ones who help the missionaries prepare, those who need rest time, and the list goes on and on...
My favorite verse today: Psalm 118:5 Out of my distress I called on the Lord; the Lord answered me and set me free. :)
