The truth shall set you free! How often has this part of a verse been quoted completely out of context? It has become a mantra of the world to excuse all sorts of odd behavior. But when I read it in context the words of Jesus are very specific and conditional. To the Jews who had believed Him, Jesus said,"If you hold to My teaching, you are really My disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." Jesus then goes on to explain that the freedom He is talking about is freedom from sin.
OK I'll get off my soapbox. It just really bugs me when people who have never read the Bible misquote it.
