I think that Mary must have been close to the wedding party because her son and all his friends were invited. She saw a need and took it to Jesus. She didn't tell Him what to do. She didn't even make any suggestions! She only stated the problem and then told the servants to do what Jesus told them to do. Jesus and His group of young strong fisherman friends could have gone into town and brought some wine back. I think that if Mary had requested that, Jesus would have done it. But Mary left it up to Jesus and Jesus chose to do a miracle that grew the faith of His disciples.
Wine is not a necessity. It is for enjoyment and Jesus made the best! When my joy has it's source in godly things, fellowship, praise, prayer, etc. , it is always sweeter with a better aftertaste then pleasure found anywhere else. Psalm 103:3 says that He satisfies your desires with good things.
I took from this today that it is always best to trust God to decide how to bless me.

What stood out to me today was this:
ReplyDeletePsa 103:6 The LORD gives righteousness and justice to all who are treated unfairly. NLT
What a wonderful promise for the children of God to believe, in those times where they are in a trial that is not a result of our own sin, but are suffering at another's hand of injustice, cruelty, etc. :)
Thanks JaNahn,
